Founded by Wilfried A.M. Bakker (PhD), Bakker Biotech combines deep hands‑on expertise in upstream and downstream processing with a strong track record in bringing innovative viral vaccines into clinical development. Wilfried has authored over 40 peer‑reviewed publications on attenuated Sabin‑poliovirus strains based inactivated polio vaccines, viral vector platforms and bioprocess engineering, and has led or supported major technology transfer and cost‑reduction programs that align with global health, global polio‑eradication and biosafety goals.
Short Biography
Wilfried Bakker is a principal consultant in vaccine and bioprocess development, specializing in viral vaccines, cell and gene therapy platforms, and innovation for global health. Over more than 30 years, he has helped to design, model, and scale industrial bioprocesses, with a particular emphasis on next‑generation Sabin‑strain based inactivated polio vaccines that support affordable, biosafe polio‑eradication strategies. His research spans bioreactor engineering, cell line and platform selection, analytical assay development, and clinical‑stage evaluation of novel IPV formulations, rotavirus vaccines, and adenoviral vectors. He has authored over 40 peer‑reviewed publications and remains actively involved in bridging process innovation with practical implementation in the vaccine industry.
